Jerry D. Teets

KALONA ? Jerry Dean Teets, 52, of Kalona, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015, at his home.

A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 1, at the Kalona Mennonite Church. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m., Monday at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund for the family?s use has been established.

Mr. Teets was born Jan. 2, 1963, in Iowa City, the son of Robert E. and Margaret (Bailey) Teets. He married Linda Waters on June 13, 1987, at Crooked Creek Christian Camp in Wayland.

He graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1981 and attended Kirkwood Community College. He had owned and operated J. Teets Studio since 1994. He was employed by the Mid-Prairie Community School District as a bus driver for eight years. He volunteered as a hunter safety instructor, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his family. He had a passion for helping others.

Surviving are his wife, Linda, of Kalona; four children, Gregory, Elissa, Jessie, and Marshal, all of Kalona; his mother, Marg Teets of Wellman; three siblings, Janice Aggson and husband Jeff of Wellman, Dan Teets and wife Janet of Iowa City, and Deana Canny and husband Chris of Washington; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Arvilla Waters of Kalona.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Teets, on March 4, 2015.
