Jerry Joe ?Termite? Pohren
FAIRFIELD ? Jerry Joe ?Termite? Pohren, 53, of Lockridge, died Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, in Keosauqua, from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at the New Sweden United Methodist Church, west of Four Corners in rural Lockridge, with the Rev. Diane Brokken and the Rev. Peggy Egbert officiating. Friends may call at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield from Tuesday until 11 a.m. Wednesday. Visitation will also be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Four Corner Tap in rural Lockridge. Burial will be in the New Sweden Methodist Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Lockridge school building. Memorials may be made to Abate of Iowa, District 14 for their charities.
Mr. Pohren was born Dec. 28, 1955, in Fairfield, the son of Harold Paul and Dorothy Mae (Norton) Pohren.
He attended Fairfield High School. He lived his entire lifetime in the Lockridge community. He owned and operated the Four Corner Tap north of Lockridge. He had worked at J.I. Case in Burlington for 35 years. He was a member of District 14, Abate of Iowa, the U.A.W. and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, riding his Harley Davison motorcycle and participating in rallies. His hobbies included hunting, working on cars, collecting antiques and being the life of the party. He was known as son, dad, brother, grandpa, uncle, ?Termite,? ?Hare? and a ?Legend.?
Surviving are his mother; one son, Jeremy J. Pohren and wife Shelia of Mount Pleasant; one daughter, Krystle Sue Pohren and fiancé Levi Evans of Lockridge; five grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Patsy McLain and husband John of Lockridge, Joyce Le Duc and husband Jim of Lockridge; Jim Pohren and wife Linda of Mount Pleasant; Jack Pohren and wife Donna of Lockridge; Sharon Nelson and husband Danny of Lockridge; Sue Hopper and husband Don of Lockridge; John Pohren and wife Mary of Lockridge; Sheila Westphal and husband Bryan of Lockridge, and Charlotte Pohren of Mason City; 13 nephews, nine nieces; nine great-nephews; and 10 great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Glen Sherman Pohren; and two nephews.
