Jerry Lee Collett, 84, of Clarence, Iowa, formerly of Washington, Iowa, died Monday, May 16, 2022, at the Clarence Nursing Home following a short illness.

Private family graveside services with military honors will be held at a later date at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for the Washington Public Library. Jerry was born January 24, 1938, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Lucille Collett. He was raised by Oscar and Violet Collett and considered their 12 children his brothers and sisters. Jerry attended the Red Brick School south of Washington. He served honorably in the Army National Guard for 13 years.

Jerry lived most of his life in Washington, Iowa, where he worked for Freshwaters Feed and Grain and later worked at Modine Manufacturing for 34 years until his retirement. Jerry's favorite "job" was taking care of his grandchildren. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, and enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking and going to the Washington Public Library.

He is survived by three children, Chris (Rhonda) Collett of Phoenix, Arizona; Angie (Pat) Wood of Clarence, Iowa; and Brandon (Marty) Collett of Washington, Iowa; four grandchildren, Megan Collett, Nate Wood, Matt Collett and Anna Collett; and one sister, Marilyn Weatherman of Washington, Iowa. Jerry is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mom and 10 brothers and sisters.
