Jerry N. McKinnon

Jerry N. McKinnon, 85, of New London, died Tuesday, March 25, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Visitation began at noon today, March 27, at Elliott Chapel in New London, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 28, at the chapel, with the Rev. Maurie Campbell officiating. Burial will be at Burge Cemetery in New London.

A memorial has been established.

He was born June 10, 1922, in New London, the son of Ralph and Yoma Norton McKinnon. On May 11, 1944, he married Freda Preuss in New London.

A graduate of New London High School, he received a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa Wesleyan College and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Colorado. He was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He owned and operated McKinnon's Inc. with his brothers John and Bill McKinnon, doing business as Primary Oil Company. He attended New London Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife; his daughter, Connie Koehler and her husband Paul of Marshalltown and Sun Lakes, Ariz.; two sons, Greg McKinnon and his wife JoAnn of Colfax, Wis. and Jerry McKinnon and his wife Irma of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.

His parents and brothers John McKinnon and Bill McKinnon preceded him in death.
