Jesse Haynes, 82, of Hillsboro, passed away Sunday, Nov. 14, 2021, at SunnyBrook Assisted Living Center in Fairfield.

Jesse was born Feb. 25, 1939, in Winchester, west of Stockport, Iowa, the son of John Henry and Lucille (Martin) Haynes Sr. Jesse served his country in the United States Navy. He was united in marriage to Carolyn W. Sanderson on April 8, 1960, in Bonaparte, Iowa. She preceded him in death on June 19, 2016.

In his early years, he worked in a coal mine, and later went on to work for Blue Bird Midwest of Mount Pleasant for 37 years. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, hunting, camping and served as the camping host at Oakland Mills for several years. His family was very important to him.

He is survived by his daughter, Carol (Roger) Deao of Stockport; three grandchildren, JR (Ruth) Deao, Laura (Patrick) Thomas and Carrie Haynes; and three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Lailee and Lizabeth.

Jesse was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, Faron E. Haynes; two great-grandchildren; his brother, John Haynes Jr.; and his sister, Betty Walker.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, at Hillsboro Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Henry County Honor Guard. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Murphy Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. The family will not be present. A memorial has been established in his memory.
