James Lee Adam, 63, of Fairfield, died at 8:39 p.m. May 25, 2022 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

He was born July 1, 1958 in Fairfield to Elmer and Harriett Greiner Adam. He married Rebecca Smith on Dec. 14, 1991 and they raised three children together.

A 1976 graduate of Fairfield High School, Jim earned a degree in nuclear medicine from the University of Iowa. He grew up working on the farm and had worked for over 30 years at Ottumwa Regional Health Center, retiring in 2019.

Jim enjoyed fishing, especially at Lake Rathbun, hunting, mushrooming, cooking and gardening. An outdoorsman, Jim loved travelling to Canada and camping. He was an avid collector.

Jim was a proud member of the NRA and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving are his children, Joshua (Danielle) Adam of Gilbert, AZ, Kristen (Greg) Civin of Fairfield and Sara Adam (Tanner Krier) of Denver, CO; five grandchildren, Americus, Tatum, Brynleigh, Aiden and Luke; siblings, Dennis (Andra) Adam, Robert Adam, Charles Adam, Marvin "Joe" (JoAnn) Adam and Bonnie (Mike) Kessel, all of Fairfield, and Janice (Mike) McDonough of Ottumwa; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation was held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 30, at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with the family present to greet friends and family from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday. Cremation followed the visitation.

A further time to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
