Joan Kay Hora, 77, of Ainsworth, passed away suddenly Sunday, Dec. 12, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Visitation will be held from

4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, at the church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Joan Kay Klein was born Sept. 3, 1944, in Riverside, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph and Mary (Smith) Klein. She attended school in Riverside and graduated in 1962. On Sept. 21, 1963, Joan was united in marriage to Terry Walter Hora at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside. Joan worked alongside her husband on their family farm operation. She enjoyed farming, landscaping, reading, puzzles, attending her grandchildren's sporting events and spending time with her family and friends.

Joan will be deeply missed by her daughter, Becky Thomann and her husband, Ken of Riverside; son, Pat Hora and his wife, Traci of Ainsworth; brothers, Jim (Becky) Klein of West Branch, Denny (Mary) Klein of Riverside and Randy (Tina) Klein of Atalissa; sisters, Kathy (Ron) Rath of Riverside and Joyce (Roger) Norris of Ainsworth; six grandchildren, Katlin (Trey) Brenneman, Kelsey and Mackinze Hora and Kyle, Kristy and Macey Thomann; sister-in-law, Debbie Stender of Elkader; nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Buddy.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Terry; brother, Rick Klein; brother-in-law, Joe Stender and infant sister, Carol Ann Klein.
