Joan was born Sept. 12, 1933, to Hollis and Elma (Price) Vance in Van Buren County. She was raised in Van Buren County, graduating from Fox Valley Schools in 1950. Shortly after graduation, she moved to Fairfield seeking employment, first waitressing then at Falco. She met a handsome young fellow named Robert and not long after they married on Sept. 11, 1955. Bob and Jo had their four children. Douglas, Ronald, David and Roberta. who they raised in Fairfield.
From a very young age, Joan had a passion for playing piano, starting at her church in Milton. Her love of music continued, leading her path into management at Sorden Music Co., which she did for many years.
Another interest of Joan's was writing poetry. One of her poems won a contest and was even published. At Christmas time, Joan would grace the family with one of her clever poems that included the family's events for the year. But Joan's ultimate passion was her love for her family, forever showing her understanding, compassion and never-ending love for all.
Joan will be missed by her children, Douglas (Kathryn) Ogden of Coralville, Ronald (Linda) Ogden of Davenport, David (Carla) Ogden of Panora and Roberta Ogden (David Kellicut, deceased) of Iowa City; six grandchildren, Logan Ogden, Lindsay Ogden, Sean Ogden, Tanner Lange, Tori Ogden and Olivia Kellicut; and six great-grandchildren.
