Joan Shafer

      Joan Shafer, 85, of Mount Pleasant, formerly of Fairfield, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at Park Place Long Term Care Unit in Mount Pleasant.

      A service was held at 11 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Herbert G. Shafer officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

      Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or National Alzheimer's Association. Condolences may be sent to PO Box 848, Mount Pleasant.

      Mrs. Shafer was born Nov. 17, 1923, in Libertyville, the daughter of Lloyd and Nellie Morris Heston. She married Jake Shafer Aug. 23, 1943, at the Lutheran Church parsonage in Fairfield.
