Jodi Kay Reed, age 50, of Washington, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospital following a 16-month battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 22, 2025, at St. James Catholic Church, with Father Dane Dickinson officiating. The family will be present to receive friends from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at St. James Catholic Church. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Keota, Iowa. Memorials have been established for St. James Catholic School. Jodi was born July 7, 1975, in Fairfield, Iowa, the daughter of Ricky and Kathy (Fairbanks) Clements. She graduated from Washington High School in 1993 and was united in marriage to Kevin Reed on August 17, 1996, in Washington.
Jodi moved to Washington as a young child and made it her lifelong home. She spent her career in roles of care and service, working for many years at the Y Daycare before becoming a lifeline operator at Washington County Hospital and Clinics. She later served as Assistant Activities Director at Halcyon House, worked with Ann Williams Insurance, and most recently was the secretary at St. James Catholic School.
A woman of deep faith, Jodi was a member of St. James Catholic Church and generously volunteered at Earthly Blessings. She will always be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and the love she held for her family and community.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin Reed of Washington, Iowa; her children, Samuel Reed of Washington, Iowa, Ava Reed (fiancé Jonny Kopinski) of Morton, Illinois, and Wil Reed of Washington, Iowa; her mother, Kathy Clements of Washington, Iowa; her sister, Lori Hobscheidt of Washington, Iowa; nephews, Cale, Oliver, and Jaixen Hobscheidt; niece, Taytum Hobscheidt; grandmother, Marcella Fairbanks of Onaga, Kansas; step-grandmother, Dolores Clements of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; mother-in-law, Audrey Reed of Washington, Iowa; brother-in-law, Paul (Leann) Reed of Washington, Iowa, sisters-in-law, Lory Ohs Reed of Whitewright, Texas; Judy (Clarke) Corcoran of Evergreen Park, Illinois, Jacque Reed (Rigo) of New Paltz, New York, Sarah (Don) Jirak of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, and Sandra Reed (John) of Huntington, West Virginia; and brother-in-law, Ken (Aimee) Reed of Washington, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her father, Rick, in 2003; her uncle, Gary Fairbanks; her father-in-law, Cletus Reed; her brother-in-law, Nick L. Reed; her cousin, Shawna Toms; her grandmother, Patricia Clements; and her grandfathers, Ward Clements and Kermit Fairbanks.
