Joe Lewis Halferty

      Joe Lewis Halferty, 70, of Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, January 8, 2002 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City of an apparent heart attack.

      Friends may call after 12:00 noon Thursday at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday evening. Funeral services will be held Friday, at 10:00 a.m., at the Harmony Bible Church in Danville, Iowa, with Pastors Mark Connelly and Ed Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery with full military rites provided by the Mt. Pleasant VFW, American Legion and AMVETS Posts. Memorials have been established to the Harmony Bible Church and Gideon's International.
