Joseph Keith Sherman, age 47, of Washington, Iowa, died Tuesday, May 21, 2019, in Washington, Iowa, following a sudden illness.

To celebrate and honor Joe's life, the family will be present to receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. Private family interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Paws and More Animal Shelter. Joseph Keith Sherman was born August 15, 1971, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Darwin and Patricia (O'Hearn) Sherman. He graduated from Washington High School and attended Kirkwood Community College where he received his Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy. Joe later attended DMACC in Ankeny where he studied to be a Radiology Technician.

Joe loved spending time outdoors. He enjoyed going on bike rides, nature hikes and walking his dog, Otis. Music was the love of Joe's life. He was a self taught guitarist and spent hours listening to his favorite music. He enjoyed visiting with his family and neighbors.

He is survived by his father, Darwin Sherman of Washington, Iowa; sister, Traci Koeppel and husband Jeff of North Liberty, Iowa; sister, Darci Witthoft and husband Joel of Washington, Iowa; two nephews, Nick and Wilx Witthoft; one niece, Ruby Witthoft; one uncle, Jim Sherman and wife Jill of Peoria, Illinois; as well as his four legged friend, Otis.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Sherman in 2015 and one aunt, Barbara House.
