Joey Allan Dennis, age 69, of Ainsworth, Iowa, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospital following a sudden illness.
Private family graveside services will be held Friday, October 25, 2024, at the Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth with services conducted by Pastor Joseph Brown. Calling hours will begin 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 Thursday evening. Joey was born November 21, 1954, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Allan and Marilyn (Goodwin) Dennis. He attended school in Washington, Iowa. On July 1, 1972, he married Charlotte Yoder in Washington, Iowa.
Joey worked for River Products at the Conklin Quarry in Iowa City for 32 years, until his retirement in September 2024. Joey’s great enjoyment was spending time with friends and family at the family campground on the Iowa River in Gladwin, Iowa. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing and splitting firewood. Joey was known for his generosity and kindness to others. Everything he did was for the happiness of everyone. Joey would always put others needs before his own.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Dennis of Ainsworth, Iowa; son Aaron Dennis, of Ainsworth, Iowa; son Jared Dennis and wife Tracie of Brighton, Iowa; four grandchildren: Austin, Ariel, Hannah, and Wyatt. sister Portia Temeyer and husband Irvin of Iowa City, Iowa; brother Jeff Goodwin and wife Amy of Wayland, Iowa; sister Jessica Dennis of Washington, Iowa; sister, Marilyn Dennis of Winfield, Iowa; and sister, Patience Hudson and husband Kole of Tennessee.
Joey was preceded in death by his parents; sister Marsha Haffner; and brother Justin Dennis.
