John A. Stephens

John A. Stephens, 87, of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, March 13, 2006, at the Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

      The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 16, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Edward R Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery with military rites.

      Visitation will be held Thursday at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel from 9 a.m. until time of the service.

      In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the First United Methodist Church and the Mt. Pleasant Rotary Club.

      Mr. Stephens was born Aug. 19, 1918, in Ainsworth, son of Samuel Allen and Mildred Jane Stearns Stephens. He graduated from Ainsworth High School and received his bachelor of arts degree from Iowa Wesleyan College. On Oct. 16, 1943, he married Florence Lily Fimmen.
