John Daryl Hamil Jr.

John Daryl Hamil Jr., 92, of Washington, formerly of Crawfordsville, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, in the M.L. McCreedy Home in Washington following a decline in health.

    Celebration of life services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at the United Church of Crawfordsville with services conducted by Larry Fletcher. Burial will be at the Crawfordsville Cemetery. General calling hours will be from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Memorials have been established for the M.L. McCreedy Home or the United Church of Crawfordsville.

    Mr. Hamil was born Nov. 26, 1918, on the family farm near Crawfordsville, the son of John D. and Ada (Oats) Hamil. He married Betty Sinclair of Wayland on Jan. 9, 1941, in Queens City, Mo., in a double ceremony. Towyn and Pauline Davies, lifelong friends of the couple, were married at the same time.
