John Henss

WEST DES MOINES ? John L. Henss, 83, of West Des Moines, died Wednesday, June 29, 2016.

Services were held Friday, July 1, at Covenant Presbyterian Church, where he was a longtime member.

Mr. Henss was born July 25, 1932, in Wayland, the son of J. Laurence and Velma (Wittrig) Henss.

He graduated from Wayland High School with the Class of 1950. He was a graduate of the University of Iowa, and was a CPA in Des Moines through 2015.

Surviving are five children, Julie Henss and Tom Linnan, Kris Palmer and husband Bob, Virginia Clark and Rick Arellano, Patty Garrett, and Joe Henss and wife Melissa; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Joan Lange, Kathy Meyer and husband Stan, Larry Henss and wife Ann, and Jim Henss and wife Jan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother-in-law, Leo Lange.
