John L. Ropp

    KALONA ? John L. Ropp, 87, of Kalona, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, in the Pleasantview Home in Kalona.

    Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, at the Fairview Conservative Mennonite Church in rural Kalona with the Rev. John Hershberger, the Rev. David L. Yoder, and the Rev. Don Swartzendruber officiating.  Burial will be at a later date in the Carlsbad Cemetery in Carlsbad, N.M.  Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the church.  The Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona is in charge of the arrangements.

    Mr. Ropp was born Sept. 29, 1921, near Kalona, the son of Sol C. and Vesta (Yoder) Ropp.  He married Violet Martin on Dec. 21, 1949, in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.
