John O. Egli

John O. Egli, age 80, of Washington, Iowa formerly of Maquoketa, Iowa died Thursday March 1, 2007 at the Washington County Hospital after a history of heart problems.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Monday March 5, 2007 at the Jones - Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Rev. Kelly Allard officiating. Visitation will begin 11:00 am Sunday at the Jones - Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 pm Sunday. Interment with military honors will take place at a later date at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established for the Halcyon House Good Samaritan Fund or the First Baptist Church in Maquoketa. John was born February 7, 1927 in New Salem, North Dakota the son of Oskar and Emma (Kroh) Egli. He attended school in New Salem and was then drafted to serve in the United States Army during World War II. During the war he was stationed in Germany.
