John R. 'Pete' Peters

      John R. "Pete" Peters, 85, of Fort Madison, died at 8:30 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2007, at Fort Madison Community Hospital in Fort Madison.

      A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Barr Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Brenda Goodall officiating. Burial will be in Soldiers Circle Oakland Cemetery in Fort Madison, with graveside military rites conducted by Fort Madison Veterans Honor Guard.

      Family visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the chapel. A memorial has been established to Fort Madison Bloodhound Booster Club, and contributions may be left at the chapel.

      Mr. Peters was born May 19, 1921, in Aurora, Neb., the son of Joseph Rollin and Hattie Elizabeth Wilson Peters. He married Elizabeth Elaine Barnes Dec. 19, 1945, in Barhydt Chapel on the Parsons College campus.
