John Richard 'Dick' Couch

      KALONA - John Richard "Dick" Couch, 88, of Piedmont, Mo., died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, in the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a sudden illness.

      Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29, in the Kalona Mennonite Church in Kalona with the Rev. Scott Swartzendruber and the rev. Mick Murray officiating. A private graveside service will beheld prior to the service in the Sharon Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for the Kalona Mennonite Church.

      Mr. Couch was born March 11, 1920, in Piedmont, Mo., the son of John Leonard and Mayme (Tyrer) Couch. He married Ruth Moore on June 13, 1940 in Normandy, Mo.
