John Richard Leach, age 76, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Aurora. He was born October 8, 1946 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of John Leach and Ella "Betty" (Shank) Leach.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Smith-Leach formerly of Pearl, Illinois; and two daughters, Natalie Stringer and husband Dan of Jefferson, Maryland, and Emily Concannon and husband Jared of Kansas City, Missouri.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Betty Leach; one brother, Joseph Leach; and one sister, Nancy Hardy.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 25, 2023 in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Aurora. Visitation be held from 9:00 AM until service time in the church.

Burial will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, February 26 at Hess Cemetery in Pearl, Illinois.

Arrangements are under the care of Peterson Funeral Chapel in Aurora, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or the American Legion.
