John W. Coleman November 19, 1928 - June 13, 2005

John Woodruff Coleman, 76, of Danville, died at 9:05 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2005, at Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.

      The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 17 at Elliott Chapel, with the Rev. David Mixon officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 16 at Elliott Chapel in New London, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial has been established to Gideons International.

Survivors include his wife; seven sons, Leroy Coleman of Mt. Pleasant, Cecil Coleman, Lester Coleman, Jeff Coleman, Rex Coleman, Doug Coleman and Ruben Coleman, all of Danville; six daughters, Donna Shelangoski of Yellville, Ark., Becky Fritz of Mt. Pleasant, Catherine Ort and Linda Mertens, both of New London, Janet Wesley of Parnell and Judy Kelly of West Burlington; 32 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Chester Coleman of New London; and three sisters, Iris Northrup of Indianapolis, Wanda McDowell of Wever and Ruth Johnson of Hillsboro.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
