John W. Cooley

John W. Cooley, 86, of Washington, formerly of Arlington, Va., died Friday, June 19, 2009, in Halcyon House in Washington following an extended illness.

    Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington with the Rev. Julie Poulsen officiating.  Military honors by the Washington American Legion Post 29 will be conducted at the funeral service.  Burial will be at Garrett Cemetery north of Delta.  Visitation began at noon today at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.  A general memorial has been established.

    Mr. Cooley was born June 25, 1922, in Knoxville, the son of Floyd and Josephine Cooley.  He married Lillian ?Mickey? Harris on July 10, 1943, at Post Headquarters Chapel in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
