      Joseph A. ?Joe? Panther, 89, of Mt. Pleasant, died on Monday, June 4, 2001, at Henry County Health Center.

      The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel. A Christian vigil service will follow at 7 p.m. at the Gathering Center of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church after which the family will receive friends. Burial following the Mass will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the Rumbaugh-Goodwin Institute for Cancer Research, Crossroads Hospice of Southeast Iowa, St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and the Catholic Near East Welfare Association.
