Joseph De Nicolo
Joseph De Nicolo, 85, of Wayland, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
The funeral service will be next week at Saranac Lake in New York with military burial in St. Paul?s Cemetery in Bloomingdale, New York. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 7, at the Weir Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant.
Mr. De Nicolo was born June 26, 1915, on Long Island, New York, the son of Dominick and Pasquelina De Nicolo. He married Steela M. Pebbler on Oct. 3, 1963, at Saranac Lake, who preceded him in death on Sept. 8, 1993. He was educated at Saranac Lake and worked as an accountant for a lumber company there until retiring and opening his own antique shop and dealership. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include a son, Joseph De Nicolo of Missoula, Mont.; two daughters, Lenore and Carl Sorenson of Saranac Lake and Tia Marie and Edwin Hamm of rural Wayland; two brothers, Vincent and Junior De Nicolo of Long Island; two sisters, Mary and Gloria De Nicolo of Long Island; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard De Nicolo, and a brother, Carman De Nicolo.
