Joseph John Takes
Joseph John Takes, 73, of Washington, died Thursday, April 21, 2016, in the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.
His body has been cremated, and a celebration of life will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Saturday, May 7, at the Wagon Wheel in Washington. The Beatty Funeral Home in Washington is assisting Joseph?s family.
Mr. Takes was born Feb. 22, 1943, in Cascade, the son of Lloyd P. and Elda (Otting) Takes.
He graduated from Monticello High School and served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War, from 1967-1975. He was a truck driver for Walkers Livestock in Washington.
Surviving are two stepsons, Brian Coleman and wife Kim of Washington, and Scott Coleman of Chicago, Illinois; three grandsons; and 14 siblings, L j Takes of Monticello, Jean Takes of Illinois, Joan Manternach and husband Dan of Monticello, Mary Kay Ackerman and husband Ron of Monticello, Carolyn Manternach and husband Jerry of Anamosa, Darlene Wilcox and husband Steve of Monticello, Sally6 Sawyer and husband Jeff of Marshalltown, Tom Takes and wife Mary of Cedar Rapids, Alan Takes and wife Liz of Cascade, Alice Brighton and husband Tom of Mon ticello, Carl Takes and wife Jan of Anamosa, Charlie ?Tuna? T akes and wife Tami of Monticello, Robbie Takes of Monticello, and Bill Takes and wife Vicki of Monticello.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Loretta Beckman; and one stepson, James Coleman.
