Josephine Laura Triplett, age 82, of Washington, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017, at the Halcyon House in Washington.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 15, 2017, at St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Bernie Weir officiating. Calling hours will begin 3:30 p.m. Thursday at St. James Catholic Church where the Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at St. James Catholic Church. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established for St. James Catholic Church, Hospice of Washington County or the Halcyon House Good Samaritan Fund. Josephine was born April 1, 1935, in Rolfe, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph Matthew and Ella Cobb (Taylor) Meisenbach. After high school, she graduated from the St. Joseph School of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa. Josephine was united in marriage to Joseph Eugene Triplett on June 14, 1958, in Rolfe, Iowa.
Josephine was a homemaker. She grew up in Iowa, resided in Illinois, Missouri and Kansas, and returned to Iowa in 1990. Josephine was a member of St. James Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters, the Legion of Mary, and helped with RCIA for many years. She was also a member of the Ft. Nightly Club - Department of Artistic Endeavors.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Triplett of Washington, Iowa; nine children: Catherine Ballew of Champaign, Ill.; Gene Triplett and wife Diane of Monticello, Ill.; Mary Davis and husband Shawn of Fithian, Ill.; Elizabeth Champ and the late Horace "Tony" Champ of Hebron, Ky.; Kevin Triplett and wife Sandra of Powder Springs, Ga.; Patricia Storer and husband Gene of Bourbonnais, Ill.; Joseph Triplett and wife Michelle of Bloomington, Ill.; Laura Fisher and husband Aaron of Washington, Iowa; and Susan Van Osdol and husband Mike of Washington, Iowa; 35 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Nelson of Irwin, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sons-in-law, Horace "Tony" Champ and Craig Tanner; and brother-in-law, Laverne Nelson
