Joshua Lee Heisdorffer, 44, of Ollie, died at 2:30 p.m. August 13, 2022, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.
He was born August 10, 1978, in Ottumwa to Gary Lee and Beverly A. Blaine Heisdorffer. Josh married Kathy Jo Sampson on July 22, 2000.
A 1997 graduate of Pekin High School, he had attended Indian Hills Community College. Josh had worked for John Adrian on his farm, at Fessler Auto and in 2001 started working at John Deere Ottumwa Works where he was currently employed. He owned his own business cleaning carpets and detailing cars on the side.
He had served as Mayor of Ollie for the past 5 years and previously served on the Ollie City Council. He helped the elderly in Ollie with upkeep of their yards.
Josh enjoyed gambling, especially at Riverside Casino, and was always being offered a free hotel room.
He was a great husband, son, father and brother.
Surviving are his wife, Kathy; their daughters, Ava Rae and Zoe Paige Heisdorffer; his mother, Beverly (Gary) Neel of Richland; siblings, Angela (Tony) Bond of Packwood, Tony (Tami) Heisdorffer of Hedrick, Rex (Michele) Heisdorffer of Newton, Shauna Roefer (Josh Adams) of Ottumwa, Natalie (Scott) McGlaughlin of Muscatine and Jesse Neel of Richland; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Chris and Bob Carter of Ollie; brother-in-law, Tim (Karen) Sampson of Lee’s Summit, MO; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gary Lee Heisdorffer; grandparents; uncles and aunts, Jim Blaine, Larry Blaine, Karen and Larry Blomme and Sherri Heisdorffer.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, August 19, at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with the family present to greet friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 20, at Prairie View United Methodist Church with Pastor Steven Lamb officiating. For those unable to attend, the service may be viewed on the church’s website, www.prairieviewchurch-iowa.org . Burial will be in Competine Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for his daughters’ education.
