Joy M. Steele

      Joy M. Steele, age 85, of Riverside, Iowa died Thursday December 21, 2006 at her residence following a lengthy illness.

      Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday December 27, 2006 at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home with Rev. Julie Poulsen officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am Tuesday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Tuesday evening. Interment will take place in the Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the United Methodist Church Library and Iowa City Hospice.       Joy was born April 19, 1921 in rural Riverside, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas B. and Ruth Irene (Steele) McMillan. At the age of 4, Joy moved with her family to California. She attended school in California and graduated from San Jose State College with a Bachelor's Degree in Librarianship. On January 24, 1944 Joy was united in marriage to Thomas F. Turner in Chico, California. He preceded Joy in death in 1970. On December 29, 1972, Joy was married to Eugene H. Steele in Sacramento, California.
