Joyce Adah Wischmeier
Joyce Adah Wischmeier, 73, of Fort Worth, Texas, and formerly of Mt. Pleasant and San Antonio, Texas, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000 at a hospice house in Fort Worth after a lengthy illness.
The funeral service was Friday, Dec. 15, at the Porter Loring Funeral Home in San Antonio with the Rev. Mario Nava officiating. She was buried with her husband Jim at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, who preceded her in death on Nov. 14, 1981.
Mrs. Wischmeier was born Sept. 7, 1927 in Yarmouth, the daughter of long-time Mt. Pleasant residents Frank and Margaret Miller. She married Jim Wischmeier on June 13, 1948. She grew up in Iowa and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1944. The most important things in her life were her family and her faith. She was a longtime member of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio and contributor to Focus on the Family, the ministry of Charles Swindoll, and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
Survivors include her sister, Janet Bell of Indiana; two daughters, Jody Ginn of Fort Worth and Joy Finley of Cleburne, Texas; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Leon and Harlan Miller.
