Joyce Ann Perkins, 84, of Batavia, IA, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at her home. As were her wishes, her body has been cremated. Services will be held privately with burial to take place in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, IA, at a later date. Joyce Ann Wilson Perkins was born in Mt Ayr, IA, on April 18, 1937, to Harold and Clara Agnes Barnhart Wilson. On October 1, 1953, she was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Perkins, and they recently celebrated 68 years together. Joyce was a Christian and her faith and family were of utmost importance to her. She was a gifted photographer who always had a camera in her hand. She always took pictures at family gatherings to preserve memories and share with other family members. Joyce was an artist in many aspects of her life. Everything she created whether it be taking photos, cooking, making homemade candy, crocheted doilies of afghans, painting on canvas, stained glass, or playing the organ, it was all done with perfections. She was a gifted musician who could play multiple instruments by ear.

Left to share her story is her loving husband, Bob of Batavia, IA; two sons, Robert Perkins of Batavia, IA, and Jason (Suzanne) Perkins of San Antonis, TX; her mother, Clara Barnhart Swihart of Fairfield, IA; two siblings, William Shields of Fairfield, IA, and Teena Roush of Newton, IA; a sister-in-law, Mary Perkins; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Harold Wilson; three children, Nichole (1973), Brad (2018) and Marty (2003); five siblings, Matthew, Cheryl, Rita, Clinton and Larry; her mother-in-law, Virginia Ridge; as well as three nephews, Earnest, Clinton Jr., and Larry Jr.
