Joyce Elaine (Suter) Huff, age 89, of Washington, Iowa, formerly of Crawfordsville, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at the United Presbyterian Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the United Church of Crawfordsville, with Pastor Jason Collier officiating. Calling hours will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025, at the United Church of Crawfordsville where the family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Crawfordsville Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the United Church of Crawfordsville, the United Presbyterian Home, and Hospice of Washington County. Joyce was born August 31, 1935, near Wayland, Iowa, the daughter of Otto Oswald and Kathryn (Wenger) Suter. Joyce attended Summers Country School through the second grade and then attended school in Crawfordsville where she graduated from high school in 1953. She was united in marriage to Robert Dana Huff on September 4, 1953, in Crawfordsville.
Joyce lived most of her life southeast of Crawfordsville. She was a homemaker and assisted with the family farm operation. In 2008, she moved to the United Presbyterian Home. Joyce was a member of Spring Run Church and later the United Church of Crawfordsville. She also belonged to the White Cloud Neighborhood Club, was active with the Louisa County Fair Board, and participated in the Washington County Cattlemen’s Association.
Joyce enjoyed camping, gardening, canning, and crocheting scrubbies and dishrags. She spent winters in Texas and loved playing cards with family and friends.
She is survived by five children: daughter, Joetta Sue (Gary) Collins of Olathe, Kansas; daughter, Jacalyn Ann (Richard) Beard of Crawfordsville, Iowa; son, Raymond Dana (Lorraine) Huff of Crawfordsville, Iowa; daughter, Katy Lorraine (Dan) Greiner of Washington, Iowa; and daughter, Amanda Elaine (Derek) Sommerer of Jefferson City, Missouri; along with 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Charles (Kaye) Huff of Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2007; brother, Harry Suter and sister, Betty Jane Suter.
