Joyce Kay Meade, 68, of Fairfield passed away Friday, May 22, 2020, at University Park, Des Moines, Iowa.

Open visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2020, at Behner Funeral Home. Private burial will be later.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to NAMI (National Association for Mental Illness) and mailed to Zack and Brittany Meade, 601 Creston Ave., Des Moines, IA 50315.

Joyce was born Jan. 19, 1952, in Fairfield to Robert and Jennesse (Jameson) McClaran.

Joyce worked 12 years at Washington County Developmental Center. She enjoyed sewing and reading, with her favorite books being "Gone with the Wind" and "Scarlett." If not reading, Joyce would watch various cooking shows and made the best pies ever. Some of her other interests were sitting outside watching nature, drinking coffee, and collecting strawberries and frogs.

Joyce will be missed by her son, Zackery (Brittany) Meade of Des Moines; her siblings, Carolyn Balmer, Robert (Judy) McClaran, Dolores (Jerry) Watson and Jerald (Gail) McClaran; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Jennesse; and her grandparents.
