WELLMAN ? Joyce Ellen Millice, 74, of Wellman died Saturday, July 2, 2016, in Parkview Manor in Wellman.
Celebration of life service will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 6, at Asbury United Methodist Church in Wellman with the Rev. Moody Colorado officiating. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 5, at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. A memorial fund has been established for Parkside Activities Center. The Powell Funeral Home in Wellman is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Millice was born Nov. 19, 1941, in rural Iowa City, the daughter of Everette L. and Marguerite (Kleinschmidt) Plecker. She married Glenn Edward Millice on June 30, 1963, at Asbury United Methodist Church.
She grew up in rural West Chester. She graduated from Wellman High School in 1960. She was a day care provider, managed Wellman Recreation Center for nine years, and drove school bus and worked in the kitchen at Mid-Prairie High School for 10 years. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Beta Sigma Phi, Lioness Club, and Enlisted Association of National Guard of Iowa Auxiliary, where she was past president. She enjoyed puzzles and sewing, and was a Hawkeye fan. She was active in church, and helped with Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She loved living in Wellman her whole life surrounded by family and friends and being very involved in her community.
Surviving are two children, Mark Millice and wife Sandra of Wellman, and Angela Smeltzer and husband Jeff of Roscoe, Illinois; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Larry L. Plecker and wife Miriam of Kalona; and one sister, Phyllis Martin of Wellman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in 2006; and one sister, Karen Louise.
