Judy was born on March 3, 1940, to the late Charles and June Dempsey Neff. Judy's life was one filled with love, adventure, and laughter, traits that she carried with her until her final days.
Judy's spirit will be cherished by her devoted husband of 63 years, Gene Snyder. Together, they built a life that many could only dream of, filled with love, respect, and partnership. Judy and Gene were united in marriage on April 7, 1962. They began their journey as husband and wife in Birmingham before moving to Olathe, KS in 1967. They called Kansas home until they returned to Van Buren County in 1985. Judy also leaves behind a legacy through her two daughters, Kim (Dale) Hornberg and Dena Snyder, her three grandsons, Jesse (Gabby) Snyder, Zach (Courtney) Hornberg, and Tanner (Nicky) Hornberg, and her six great-grandchildren, Bennett, Isla, Lexi, Kane, Kaycee, and Kynlee, each of whom brought immense joy to her life. She is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Kathy Neff.
A proud graduate of Fairfield High School in 1958, Judy furthered her education at business school in Ottumwa. Her career path started as a switchboard operator before starting a few business ventures including running the Body Boutique Exercise gym and an aquarium and fish store. Throughout her life, Judy's roles were many, but none were more important to her than being a loving wife and a nurturing mother to her daughters.
Judy's love for life was infectious to all who knew her. Alongside Gene, she ventured into the great outdoors, snowmobiling and skiing, embracing the opportunities that each day offered. Their love for travel took them on unforgettable motorcycle trips and to the warm south of Texas for winter seasons. Judy was social, a friend to many, and a regular on the Des Moines River, where she cherished time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino. She had many interests such as horseback riding and bowling, which added to the stories she had to share.
Judy will be deeply missed by her family and the many friends she made along the way.
