MOUNT PLEASANT ? Judith Kay Stirling, 71, of Washington, died Monday, Sept. 28, 2015, in the Halcyon House Nursing Unit in Washington.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 2, at the Faith Christian Outreach Church in Mount Pleasant with the Rev. Monte Knudsen officiating. Burial will be in the Columbus City Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m., Thursday at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
Mrs. Stirling was born Jan. 3, 1944, in Burlington, the daughter of Klone and Gwendolyn (Liddle) Swanson. She married Robert Thomas ?Tom? Stirling on May 14, 1966, in Galesburg, Illinois.
She was a 1962 graduate of Burlington High School. When she completed high school, she worked as a pharmacy assistant in Burlington. Following her marriage, she moved with her husband to Columbus Junction, where she had resided until recently moving to Washington. For 25 years she cared for senior citizens as a site manager at the Area Agency on Aging in Columbus Junction. She retired in 2008. An active member at Faith Christian Outreach Church, she was a member of Rebekah Circle, served as a greeter at church services, and welcomed new members as part of hospitality. She was very artistic and enjoyed using her talents while painting, making cards, and tatting. She loved to grow flowers.
Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Tom; two sons, David Stirling of Washington, and Douglas Stirling of New York, New York.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one older sister, Barbara McClure.
