CEDAR RAPIDS ? Julie A. Rhea, 63, of rural Oelwein, formerly of Washington, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016, at her home.

A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held from 2 to 6 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 29, at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 Second Street S.E. in Cedar Rapids.

Surviving are her husband, James; one son, James H. Rhea; one daughter, Jamie Halvorsen; one adopted son, Randy Burgess; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; her father and stepmother, Charles F. Smith and Kathy Smith; three brothers, Charles Smith, Thomas Smith, and Donald Smith, and their wives; three stepbrothers, Jason, William, and Steven Evans; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Pauline Smith; and her grandmother, Verle Daywitt.
