Julie Suzanne Brokken, 62, of Albuquerque, N.M., passed away peacefully among family and friends on Dec. 17, 2020. As were her wishes, her body was cremated. A memorial service in her honor will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at the Lockridge Community Hall in Lockridge, Iowa. Burial will take place in the Union Cemetery immediately following the service.

Julie Suzanne Brokken was born July 18, 1959, at the Jefferson County Hospital to Wallace and Lois Crile Brokken. She attended school in Fairfield, graduating with the Class of 1977. She furthered her education at Iowa Wesleyan College graduating in 1983. Upon graduation, Julie moved to Phoenix, Ariz., to pursue teaching. In 2010, she relocated to Albuquerque, N.M., where she opened an art studio and wrote poetry. In 2017, Julie returned to Fairfield where she had an art show at the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center that she entitled "To Iowa with Love."

Julie was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

She is survived by three siblings, John Brokken, Mike Brokken and Melinda (Sam) Estle, all of Fairfield, Iowa; as well as many extended family and friends.
