Katherine Marie Shelangoski, 74, of Fairfield, IA, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at her home in Fairfield. As were her wishes her body has been donated to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program. A Memorial Service will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the Cranston Family Funeral Home in Fairfield, IA, with Pastor Larry Smith officiating. Memorial contributions in Katherine's honor may be directed to the Birmingham Library and may be mailed to the family at 413 3rd St. SW, Swisher, IA 52338. Katherine Marie Shelangoski was born August 26, 1947, in Fairfield, Iowa, the daughter of Rex and Mildred Ramsey. Katherine worked in manufacturing for 20 years at JB Plastics and Plexico and retired in 2007. In 1997 Katherine moved to the home where she was born in Birmingham and took care of the flowers, gardens, and yard that had previously been cared for by her mother. Katherine volunteered at the Birmingham Library and was a member of the Birmingham Presbyterian Church serving as the Treasurer. She enjoyed reading, gardening, crocheting blankets for her family, church activities, traveling with her family, spending time with friends and family and keeping track of her grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend who will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish her memory include Lisa Jaacks (Jim) of St. Louis, Greg Shelangoski (Diane Bown) of Birmingham, Steve Shelangoski (Cindy) of Swisher; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Bagby of Fairfield; brother, Vernie Ramsey of Donnellson; and many other extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jason Shelangoski; brother, Roy Ramsey; brother, Jimmy Ramsey; and sister, Nancy Craff.
