Kathryn Suter Anderson
Kathryn Suter Anderson, 97, of Wayland and formerly of the Crawfordsville area, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002 at the Parkview Home in Wayland.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m., Saturday at the Wayland United Methodist Church in Wayland, with the Rev. Kenneth Hartman officiating. Burial will follow in the Crawfordsville Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon at the Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials have been established to the Wayland United Methodist Church and the Parkview Home in Wayland.
Mrs. Anderson was born Feb. 18, 1905 in Wayland, the daughter of Joe T. and Josephine Widmer Wenger. She married Otto Suter on her twentieth birthday. He died May 1, 1958. She later married Glenn Anderson Aug. 17, 1966. He died Sept. 27, 1985. She was a member of the United Methodist New Life Parish Church in Wayland. She helped to start the lunch programs at the Crawfordsville and Wyman schools, and owned and operated Suter's Cafe in Winfield. She also worked at several food services in Iowa City and helped her first husband farm in Washington County. She moved to Mountain Home, Ark. in 1966 with her second husband Glenn and returned to the Parkview Apartments in Wayland in 1980.
Survivors include a son, Harry Dean and his wife Lorraine Suter of Winfield; a daughter, Joyce and her husband Robert Huff of Crawfordsville; a stepson, John and his wife Claudia Anderson of South Dakota; two stepdaughters, Mary Hall of Iowa City and Margaret and her husband Craig Gipple of New Jersey; a brother, Gilbert Wenger of Salina, Kan.; eight grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren.
Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, a grandson, four brothers and three sisters.
