Kathy Childs

Kathy Ann Childs, 67, of Kalona, died Monday, Jan. 4, 2016, in Mercy Hospital Hospice.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 7, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, from 1 to 2 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for Iowa City Hospice and the University of Iowa Children?s Hospital.

Mrs. Childs was born July 11, 1948, in Washington, the daughter of Raymond J. and Norma Z. (Munn) Miller. She married Patrick Childs on April 21, 1967, in Washington.

She graduated from Washington High School. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, going to the Ozarks, Hawkeye wrestling, the Dallas Cowboys, and following the band Mad Hoss Jackson.

Surviving are her husband, Patrick, of Kalona; four sons, Gregory Childs and wife Amanda of North Liberty, James Childs and wife Victoria of Rock Rapids, Matthew Childs and wife Natalie of Cedar Rapids, and Bruce Childs and wife Tina of Kalona; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandson; five brothers, Ray Miller, John Miller and wife Linda, Terry Miller and wife Nancy, Ralph Miller and wife Cathy, and Roger Miller; and one sister, Jean Stout and husband Ken.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
