Kenneth Earl “Ken” Marsengill, age 83, of Washington, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at the Halcyon House in Washington.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Faith Baptist Church with Pastor Jon Rees officiating. Calling hours will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home, where the family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for the Early Cemetery in Mercer, Missouri, and Sonshine Outreach in Washington, Iowa. Online condolences may be sent for Kenneth’s family at www.jonesfh.com.
Kenneth was born August 6, 1942, in Mercer County, Missouri, and was the son of Caz Kenneth and Lenore Fay (Early) Marsengill. He attended kindergarten at Lineville, Iowa, and then attended Mercer School in Mercer, Missouri, graduating in 1960. He attended technical school at the Water and Wastewater School in Neosho, Missouri. Kenneth was united in marriage to Eldora Mae Wendt on October 21, 1961, at the Princeton Assembly of God Church in Princeton, Missouri.
Kenneth worked at HD Lee Company in Kansas City, Missouri; was the wastewater operator for the city of Chariton, Iowa; lab technician for the city of Des Moines, Iowa; and wastewater operator for the cities of New London, Washington, Iowa, and Riverside, Iowa. He was also an environmental specialist for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Kenneth helped in the family business, Washington Rental in Washington, Iowa.
He attended Faith Baptist Church in Washington. Kenneth was a leader for 4-H, Boy Scouts, and Indian Guides. He coached his sons' basketball teams and enjoyed playing softball. He was a collector of antique tractors, jeeps, and cars. Kenneth was a member of the Izaak Walton League. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming.
He is survived by his wife, Eldora Marsengill of Washington, Iowa; son, Kent (Denise) Marsengill of Riverside, Iowa; son, Kelly (Rebecca) Marsengill of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four grandchildren: Jordan (Chelsea) Marsengill, Addison Marsengill, Cam Marsengill, and Madalyn (Reabetsoe) Letsie; as well as two great-grandchildren: Tori and Beau Marsengill. He is also survived by his brother, Garry (Margaret) Marsengill of Eldridge, Iowa; sisters, Jean (Bob) Summers of Harris, Missouri, Rebecca King of Princeton, Missouri, and Kay Houk of Leon, Iowa; and sister-in-law, Marian Jacobs of Dayton, Ohio, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Caz and Lenore Marsengill; parents-in-law, James and Frances Wendt; brothers-in-law, K. King, Dick Houk, William Jacobs, and James (Joyce) Wendt; and sisters-in-law, Pansy (Ray) Aldrich, Lois (Marlin) Field.
