Kenneth G. Butzier March 15, 1927 - September 6, 2003

      Kenneth Gardner Butzier, 76, of Laporte, Minn., died on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003, at Woodrest Nursing Home in Walker, Minn.

      A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9 at the Walker Community Church in Walker, Minn., with the Rev. Zachary Crosby officiating. A public gathering will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Thomas-Dennis Funeral Home in Walker. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the University of Northern Iowa Foundation - Kenneth G. Butzier Scholarship Fund, Commons 205, Cedar Falls, IA 50614; Community Church of Walker, Music Memorial Fund, 1100 Minnesota Ave. W., Walker, MN 56484; or to a memorial of the donors choice.

      Survivors include his wife; three sons, David Rutledge and his wife Suzi Butzier of Boise, Idaho, Douglas John and his wife Martha Butzier of Dubuque, and Stuart Reyburn and his wife Robin Butzier of Albuquerque, N.M.; seven grandsons; two sisters, Grace and her husband Lloyd Langendorfer of Worthington, Minn., and Winifred R. Rasmussen of Portland, Ore.; and a sister-in-law, Blanche Butzier.

      He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Evelyn; a half-sister, Ida; and two brothers, John and Ralph.
