Kenneth L. McCabe

Kenneth L. McCabe, 86, of Salem died April 22, 2000, at the Henry County Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2000, from the Hillsboro Christian Church. The Rev. Millard White will officiate. Interment will be in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Visitation will be until 8 p.m. this evening at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. The family will be present from 7 to 8 p.m. this evening at the Beatty Funeral Home. Memorials in his memory to the Hillsboro Christian Church.

Born Jan. 15, 1914, he was the son of Frank and Della Holmes McCabe. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1932. He married Margaret Spray on Oct. 9, 1937. He was a farmer and lived on the McCabe Century Farm since 1940. Kenneth loved baseball and for many years was an outstanding pitcher. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife; two sons and two daughters, Chuck and Linda McCabe of Argyle, Texas; Mark and Christine McCabe of Fairfield, Diane McCabe-Dayton and Artie Dayton of Salem; Susan McCabe of Iowa City; and special family friend Linda Duffy of Iowa City; four granddaughters, Kelly Sparrow, Carol McMillen, Kimberly McCabe, Kalin McCabe; two great-granddaughters, Sarah Sparrow, Taryn McMillen; and three step-grandchildren, Jeremy, Christopher and Heather. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Elton and Lee; one sister, Hope Boley; and one son, Jan.
