Kenneth M. Walsinger
Kenneth M. Walsinger, 70, of 3421 Ave. N, Ft. Madison died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 25, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello with the Rev. Jeff McPheron officiating. Burial will follow in the Wapello Cemetery with military rites by the Wapello VFW Glenn Allen Post 5166. Friends may call after noon on Friday, March 24, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, where the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the Trenton United Methodist Church.
Mr. Walsinger was born June 29, 1929, in Iowa City, the son of Edgar and Cecelia Thompson Harl. He married Loretta M. Griffin in 1953. He was a graduate of Wapello High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He had retired from U.S. West after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Trenton United Methodist Church in rural Mt. Pleasant and the Moose Lodge in Burlington. He had also been a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and had enjoyed showing horses for many years.
Survivors include two daughters, Debra K. Goodson of Houston, Texas and Beth A. Rippenkroeger of Ft. Madison; one son, Jeffery L. Walsinger of Ft. Madison; a step-sister, Leota Schaper of Columbus Junction; three step-brothers, Basil Harl of Waukegan, Ill., Lloyd Harl of Fountain Inn, S.C., and Douglas Harl of Sandia, Texas; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant son.
