Kenneth W. Seyb

      Kenneth W. Seyb, 79, of Donnellson, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

      The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, at St. Paul?s United Church of Christ in Donnellson with the Rev. Judy Holcomb officiating. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at the church with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Burial will be in the Evangelical Cemetery in Donnellson. A memorial has been established. Hofbauer Funeral Home of Donnellson is in charge of arrangements.

      Mr. Seyb was born May 12, 1921 in Donnellson, the son of William and Magdalena ?Maggie? Haffner Seyb. He married Ida Lewis Dec. 28, 1945 in Fargo, N.D., who preceded him in death March 5, 1994.

      He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and a member of St. Paul?s United Church of Christ in Donnellson and many other organizations including the Donnellson American Legion, Antique Motorcycle Club of America, Antique Iowa Car Club, Midwest Old Threshers, the Southeast Iowa Gas Engines Club, Midwest Waterfob Club, International Waterfob Association, and George Washington Masonic Lodge #618 of Donnellson where he was a 32nd degree Mason. He retired in 1984 with 21 years of service from the Iowa Department of Transportation.

      He is survived by two sons, Garry and Kent Seyb, both of Donnellson; two sisters, Leota Otto of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Eulalia Brennan of Bayside, N.Y.; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
