Kenneth Wayne Schmidt

Kenneth Wayne Schmidt, 72, of Burlington died at 12:50 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2000, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

The memorial funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, at the First Baptist Church in Danville with the Rev. Richard Latta of the Danville Methodist Church and the Rev. Harry Hollingsworth of the First Baptist Church in Danville officiating. There will be military rites by the VFW Post 7641. The family will receive friends following the memorial funeral service at the First Baptist Church. A memorial has been established.

Mr. Schmidt was born Sept. 12, 1927, in Des Moines County, the son of Robert Hermann and Mabel Louise Schroeder Schmidt. He married Helen Gugeler on Jan. 28, 1951, at the Congregational Church in Danville. He was a 1945 graduate of Burlington High School. He was a farmer in the Danville area and was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church in Burlington. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 7641 in New London. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

Survivors include his wife of Burlington; one son, Robert Larrance Schmidt of Moberly, Mo.; one sister, Lucille VanSyoc of New London; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Fern.
