KEOTA ? Kenny Brenneman, 86, of Keota, died Saturday, July 16, 2016, in the Keota Health Care Center.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 19, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota with the Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at Keota Cemetery with military rites by Keota VFW Post 4716. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m., Monday, July 18, at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society or Lagos Acres Country Club. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Brenneman was born March 4, 1930, in Iowa City, the son of John and Floretta (Polson) Brenneman.
He grew up in Wellman, moved to Keota with his family in 1941 and graduated from Keota High School. He served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict. Following his discharge, he farmed in the Keota area until retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Jaycees, where he served as president. He also served as president of Lagos Acres Country Club in 1973 and was a member since 1963. He was also a member of the American Legion and VFW, serving as commander of both organizations. He also coached Little League baseball for 13 years and was a 4-H leader for several years. He enjoyed golfing, attending Hawkeye football games, his pets, and scratching lottery tickets, and he was an avid Cubs fan.
Surviving are five children, Rob Brenneman and wife Char of Washington, Gene Brenneman and wife Lisa of Keota, Lynn Brenneman of Keota, Christi Beenblossom and husband Mark of Washington, and Brenda Dunphy and husband Terry of Grimes; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ferrol Townsend and husband Terry of Longmont, Colorado; and special friend, Pat Thompson of Sigourney.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
