Kermit D. Rice July 24, 1953 - April 1, 2004

Kermit David Rice, 50, of Mt. Pleasant, died on Thursday, April 1, 2004, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

      The memorial service will be at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6 at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, with Pastor Dean Moberg officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, at the chapel, with family present from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The family also will receive friends following the service. A memorial has been established for the Kermit D. Rice Memorial for a college education fund for his children.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Kitt Rice of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Savannah Rice of Mt. Pleasant; his mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Robert Luttenegger of Burlington; his father and stepmother, Kermit and Judy Rice of West Burlington; four sisters, Diana and her husband Don Altimus of Mediapolis, Robin and her husband James Patrick of Burlington, Lisa and her husband David Patrick of Wapello, and Peggy and her husband Gregg Crew of Mt. Pleasant; and three brothers, Duane Rice of Crystal, Minn., John and his wife Jean Mitchell of Washington, and Mark Rice of Davenport, and his father-in-law, Frank Miller of Mt. Pleasant.

      He was preceded in death by his grandparents, a sister-in-law, Paulette Norton and his mother-in-law, LaVonda Miller.
