Kim Adrian Steele, 68, of Des Moines, Iowa, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2019, at home surrounded by his family. Kim was born Sept. 11, 1951, in Washington, Iowa, to Milo William and Maxine Leona (Marshall) Steele.
Survivors include wife, Rosalie Marie (Gulbransen) Steele; son, Chris Steele; and brother, Michael (Jean) Steele.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Milo and Maxine Steele.
Kim graduated from UNI with a degree in recreation. He worked for the City of Urbandale as recreation director for many years. Later, he worked at Staffing Edge, and then Waldinger Corp. as senior staff recruiter.
Kim was an avid disc golfer and was instrumental in bringing the game to the Des Moines Metro. He was inducted into the Disc Golf Hall of Fame in 2013. He loved playing disc golf with the many friends he made.
Kim played guitar and drums in many bands while in high school. His buddies would meet every year in their hometown to jam in their band "Rec."
He was a faithful Iowa Hawkeye fan, especially the baseball team, of which his son, Chris had been a member. Kim and Chris spent many hours hitting baseballs at the Roosevelt High School field, Kim knew how to help Chris out of a slump. Kim, Rosi, and Chris' devotion and love of baseball was their families strong bond.
Kim found solace in vacations with his wife, Rosalie to Sanibel Island, Fla. He loved getting away from the Iowa winters.
Kim was an extraordinary husband and father. He couldn't wait to be with his family and many wonderful friends.
A Celebration of Life funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Dunn's Chapel, 2121 Grand Ave., Des Moines, IA 50312, with a reception to follow. The family will greet friends on Tuesday at Dunn's from 5 to 8 p.m. After cremation interment will be at a later date.
